Kevin Latady, Principal, Designer
Kevin has extensive experience designing and renovating older and historic homes. Prior to founding Latady Design, LLC in 2000, he worked for nine years for the Boston, MA architectural firms Tappe and Associates, Inc. and Amsler Woodhouse MacLean Architects, Inc., as the designer and project manager on numerous historic projects.
Earlier in his career, Kevin owned a design-build firm specializing in residential and art/photographic studio renovations. He studied art and music at Bennington College, VT and photography at New England School of Photography, Boston, MA. Kevin received his architectural degree from the Boston Architectural College, Boston, MA.
Kevin brings a wide variety of skillsets to the design table, with a background as an accomplished artist, professional architectural photographer, graphic artist, potter, cabinet-maker, and finish carpenter.
Additionally, Kevin has been working on old houses since he was a child by his father’s side, restoring and rebuilding the family’s 18th century farmhouse and out buildings, often with period tools and with traditional building techniques. He brings added value to client projects by drawing on his combined craftsman, builder and artistic backgrounds to provide a holistic and reality-based understanding of the design and building process.
In addition to offering his clients a vast amount of historic design experience and working knowledge, Kevin has a keen understanding of the building process and highly values and fosters the Client-Architect-Contractor relationship. Equally important, he infuses his clients’ experience with compassion, humor and a genuine interest in listening carefully and serving his clients’ best interests.

Nathanial Hammatt, Designer
Nat brings a unique mix of design, innovation and construction experience to the team at Latady Design. Prior to receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Masters of Architecture from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Nat spent many years in the specialty construction and design fields. After years working on traditional small craft in boatyards along the northeast coast, he joined the group responsible for the design and creation of habitat for the many aquatic species in residence at The New England Aquarium. Those who have visited may be familiar with his work, such as the penguin islands surrounding the Giant Ocean Tank. More recently Nat has focused on both affordable housing with one of the region’s most prominent mission-based firms, and custom residential work in offices on the Cape and greater Boston. He has also taught architectural design at MassART.
Nat was fortunate to grow up on the Lower Cape among the earliest examples of New England’s most timeless vernacular form, the Cape Cod house. This historic regional precedent has informed his attitudes towards detail, composition and scale, and the use and expression of materials. It has also offered him a heightened respect for the built and natural context. Nat strives to bring the same balanced principles to creating solutions for today’s residential living.
