Kevin Latady, Principal, Designer
Kevin has extensive experience designing and renovating older and historic homes. Prior to founding Latady Design, LLC in 2000, he worked for nine years for the Boston, MA architectural firms Tappe and Associates, Inc. and Amsler Woodhouse MacLean Architects, Inc., as the designer and project manager on numerous historic projects.
Earlier in his career, Kevin owned a design-build firm specializing in residential and art/photographic studio renovations. He studied art and music at Bennington College, VT and photography at New England School of Photography, Boston, MA. Kevin received his architectural degree from the Boston Architectural College, Boston, MA.
Kevin brings a wide variety of skillsets to the design table, with a background as an accomplished artist, professional architectural photographer, graphic artist, potter, cabinet-maker, and finish carpenter.
Additionally, Kevin has been working on old houses since he was a child by his father’s side, restoring and rebuilding the family’s 18th century farmhouse and out buildings, often with period tools and with traditional building techniques. He brings added value to client projects by drawing on his combined craftsman, builder and artistic backgrounds to provide a holistic and reality-based understanding of the design and building process.
In addition to offering his clients a vast amount of historic design experience and working knowledge, Kevin has a keen understanding of the building process and highly values and fosters the Client-Architect-Contractor relationship. Equally important, he infuses his clients’ experience with compassion, humor and a genuine interest in listening carefully and serving his clients’ best interests.
Kevin also enjoys serving in the community through different organizations:

Daniel Staats, Associate Designer
Dan joined Latady Design in March, 2019. He brings to the firm experience as a draftsman and designer in several fields as well as a range of design software experience. Having started his studies in landscape architecture, Dan soon realized his true passion was buildings and the detailed plans themselves.
His prior experience includes working with 3D modeling on large commercial jobs for mechanical and electrical engineering firms. Before that, he worked for a general contractor in Lancaster, PA for 4 years. As their head designer, Dan designed large additions and new houses. It was in Lancaster that Dan was able to learn the many different residential building practices. He also gained experience as an estimator and how to keep projects within budget. Inspired by the many different Amish builders and cabinet makers in the area, Dan developed an even greater appreciation for craftsmanship and detailed carpentry.
Dan comes from a family with a wide range of artists and creatives, from sign painters to field stone masons. As an avid hiker, runner and bicyclist, he also shares with his family a passion for the outdoors. Dan’s strong connection with nature is at the core of the work he does to balance the built home and its surrounding environment.
