“We couldn’t be more pleased with both the experience of working with Kevin and the outcome. He helped us build the house of our dreams and the experience strengthened our friendship. What else could one ask of your architect?”

How did Latady Design take this circa 1930s colonial with a standard footprint and create a comfortable, showcase home with strengthened flow, function and expansion on a non-conforming lot? By listening to wants, needs and underlying desires—and facilitating every aspect of the project, including Zoning Board approval, for a design in keeping with the neighborhood’s scale and context. We improved and expanded the space for better living for a growing young family while maintaining aesthetics of the original house. The homeowners appreciated our thoughtful restoration of the wood clapboard and detailing of the original home, our suggestion of a beamed cathedral ceiling in the new master bedroom suite, and a patio area for barbecuing and entertaining. We also designed a contemporary kitchen reminiscent of their South American heritage, complete with rustic wood and reclaimed barn floorboards. A new multi-purpose room over the garage serves as family room and theatre in this traditionally appropriate and expanded dream home.
